Anker has excellent Customer Service. Anker reached out to me and sent a replacement HUB. The device was received quickly and I have updated my video review. My statements below remain the same, the new device functioned the same as the replacement where ports labeled 1,2,3 are the only ones that supported USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices and the rest 4, 5, 6, 7 would only support USB 2.0 devices.
Unfortunately, since the replacement device is functioning the same as the original, I must leave my 3 star rating. I was hoping I was going to be able to change my rating, as I have several Anker devices and am happy with all of them.
I have several Anker products and I am very happy with them all, but I was a disappointed with this USB 3.0 – 7 port HUB since not all ports seem to work with USB 3.0 devices. As you will see in the video after the unboxing, I discover that only the first 3 ports seem to support USB 3.0. This is a raw video with no edits, so I show you how it works as I discover how it works. This is a real life discovery of functionality. I demonstrate inserting USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices. For the $30 price I would expect all ports to support USB 3.0 devices.
Here is a list of the third party USB devices used in the video.
* Kingston Data Traveler G2 16GB – USB 2.0
* Patriot Rage XT 16GB – USB 2.0
* The red one is an microsd reader that came with a drone I have USB 2.0.
* Patriot Supersonic Rage 64GB – USB 3.0
* Patriot Supersonic Rage2 128GB – USB 3.0
* Samsung T1 Portable 500GB USB 3.0 External SSD (MU-PS500B/AM)
If I have a defective unit, please contact me and I will be happy to update my video and review if this can be resolved.
