what happens if you remove the hdd from the “ThinkPad Secure USB Hard Drive Mini
” plug the hdd directly on to your motherboard?

Does it have any encryption capability?

Thanks for the video, but it doesn’t show how to lock or unlock the drive.

MUSA says:

@camplo142 It’s not just a layer, you can’t trick the security unmounting the hdd from its case as the datas inside are all AES-256 encrypted on-the-fly. I wanted to buy this product but here is why I wont: 1) The password is min 8 to max 16 length digits, which is 16^10 – 7^10 = 1.0995116e+12 – 282475249 = 1 099 229 124 751 possible combinations only. 2) It won’t lock itself or auto-destruct or cooldown any additionnal attempt after the intruder tried many times unsuccessfully. So basically, if you have very valuable datas stored in it, a handyman could tinker an interface and bruteforce it in a few minutes. tl;dr: not that secure but decent enough for hiding pr0n…
