@camplo142 It’s not just a layer, you can’t trick the security unmounting the hdd from its case as the datas inside are all AES-256 encrypted on-the-fly. I wanted to buy this product but here is why I wont: 1) The password is min 8 to max 16 length digits, which is 16^10 – 7^10 = 1.0995116e+12 – 282475249 = 1 099 229 124 751 possible combinations only. 2) It won’t lock itself or auto-destruct or cooldown any additionnal attempt after the intruder tried many times unsuccessfully. So basically, if you have very valuable datas stored in it, a handyman could tinker an interface and bruteforce it in a few minutes. tl;dr: not that secure but decent enough for hiding pr0n…
