Buy it on Amazon – http://lon.tv/cmy9a (affiliate link) – Sabrent has a handy USB Type C to SATA adapter that makes most 2.5″ SATA internal hard drives and SSDs external. Decent performance too. See more USB-C : http://lon.tv/kypr8 and subscribe! http://lon.tv/s

All in this is a nicely performing adapter – especially for sequential read and write tasks. It doesn’t do as well with random reads and writes but it does seem to perform slightly better than some of the dedicated USB-C SSDs we’ve looked at recently.

Some adapters from other manufacturers come with a 10-20 watt AC adapter, allowing you to use 3.5 inch drives and 5.25 inch optical drives as well.
Ok, so I have a Netgear Nighthawk X 10 9000 an it has 2 USB is there a way to hook a SSD up to it as a back up hard drive
Hi Lon, please help me out, I’m buying the Samsung T3 ssd for my MacBook Pro 13″ late 2016, which cable should I buy? I’m confused on this issue.
Thanks for your Excellent Reviews.
Lon, I have the solution for USB-c and thunderbolt 3 in the near future. Buy a M.2 enclosure and a Samsung 1tb M.2 ssd. Costs under $500 and gives you 1250MB/s. around the same price as those usbc hard drives you showed but this solution offers triple the speed.
was the read and write sizes the same? which size was chosen?
Do you ever think about to put some spaces between the lines on your storyboard?
SSDs RULE!
Using an external Samsung T3 500GB SSD to boot my old Late 2009 iMac into macOS Sierra 10.12.5. It’s a dream compared to when I used to use an external hard drive to do it. Man…I can’t imagine what it’ll be like with a newer model though. Oh my goodness those speeds!
Hey lon I still have an old ide hard drive do you have any random hard drive that you don’t need?
First ^_^
I like Sabrent; I have their internal drive to USB docking station.
anyone who know what type of Windows install he have on the ssd? I thought Windows on the go was not compatible with USB boot on Mac?
Lon, wish you could offer some of these things you review at a discount, not just the one you review but many units. Is that not good consumer advice?
Got a GoPro 5 Session which I think has a USB-C connector. Since it’s so tiny, I’m thankful for the convenience.
It will be a useful adapter when I buy a new MacBook. Thanks!
